Determine your topic. Exactly what are you going to write about? Brainstorm for ideas if you have to. When writing for your client, product, press release, etc you may even wish to refer to requested topics for ideas.

Figure out who your audience is. Are you writing for a beginner, an intermediate, or an advanced audience? For example, if you are writing an article about "Creating PowerPoint Slides," are your readers new to PowerPoint, or business people looking for advanced tips?

Do your research. How well do you know the topic? Is it something you can write easily about with little or no preparation, or do you need more information from experts in the field?

Commitment comes first - You must totally commit to the project. Don't turn it over to a junior employee. Put all your available resources behind it.

Identify the objectives - Create a plan. Would you consider starting a new busi-ness without a business plan? I hope not!

For those new to marketing plans, the thought of writing a marketing plan from start to finish may feel daunting. It need not. The level of detail you choose to include will depend on your resources and situation. If you have extremely limited manpower or other resources, you may be constrained to a "broad brush," basic marketing plan approach. If your plan must support your claims to others in the company, more back-up detail in your marketing plan may be appropriate.

Writing a Basic Marketing Plan

Include a summary at the beginning. Like any business report, your plan write up should begin with a summary. The traditional executive summary is one option.

The term search engine has become the predominant term for search system or search site, but before reading any further, you need to understand the different types of search, um, thingies, you’re going to run across. Basically, you need to know about four things:

I have been researching around the years for better ways of attracting web visitors to a particular site and found many ways. Some of the rules we need to follow is keeping users trend in mind. Here is a simple rule to success on the web:

Make your site useful and then tell people about it. That’s not so complicated, really. Figure out how your site can be useful to people and then find as many ways as possible to let people know about it. You’ll use the search engines, of course, but you should be using other methods, too. Remember, the search engines are not the only way to get people to your site. In fact, many Web sites have succeeded without using the search engines as their primary method of attracting visitors to the site. It’s unlikely that search engines were a large factor in Amazon’s success — Amazon grew rapidly mainly because of the enormous press attention it received, beginning in 1994.

Net Applications Global Internet Usage Market Share shows Cuil (pronounced cool) making an early impact versus Google in a key relevancy metric. Cuil is a new search engine created by former Google engineers (http://www.cuil.com). It was released to the public on 7/28. Net Applications has usage share numbers starting the next day. Cuil was able to reach .26% share on the first day we started tracking. However, there have been widespread reports of outages and problems with its search results.

How to Juggle Several Goals for My Site?

Your Website might have multiple goals - many do. IBM has some products (server accessories and software upgrades) that it sells online to customers, many other products (main frame servers and business consulting) it sells offline, and some (servers with industry softwares) that it sells by passing leads to resellers. Like most companies, IBM also wants to create market awareness for its "e-business" and "on-demand" campaigns. How does juggle all of these goals?
